Haiti will have elections in a month, it is going to be Michel Joseph Martelly vs Mirlande Hyppolite Maniga. How can new leadership change the situation in the first 100 days? Are we in Haiti or in the diaspora asking the right questions or moving in the right direction when it comes to the way we rebuild Haiti? I think we need to focus on creating structures that will allow us to govern more effectively. That would be a focus on democratic institutions, decentralization, and a realistic conversation about economic development.

I hope Haitians would have a realistic conversation about the way forward. I hope the Haitian people will elect the best candidate that is capable of overcoming the tremendous challenges Haiti face right now.
